Gaining Insight Through Hindsight

“In the business world, the rear view mirror is always clearer than the windshield.” – Warren Buffett

Mr. Billionaire Buffett’s quote is a more colorful way of expressing the saying, “hindsight is 20/20”.

Taking action is a key characteristic of a successful solopreneur. So what is stopping you from moving forward and gaining the insight from hindsight?

One step that I have taken to gain better knowledge and clarity about The Solopreneur’s Guide is participating in the online business community of Entrepreneur Connect. EC is a business social networking site sponsored by Here various entrepreneurs (and solopreneurs) can share ideas, ask questions, and create visibility for their businesses.

Here are some benefits I’ve gained from participation:

1. I get the opportunity to challenge my business ideas by responding to real world needs. This helps me fine tune my ideas and approach.

2. I gain visibility to the types of issues that entrepreneurs are facing now. Through this, I get inspiration for my posts here and future products for my market.

3. I receive an increase in traffic to this blog. More visibility = more opportunities. Luck rarely just happens. Opportunities for luck are created through putting yourself out there.

4. I see what advice other career coaches are giving. If you have been reading my posts, you should know that I believe in the necessity of uniqueness. I gain insight into my unique market appeal.

5. I get to network and identify possible Joint Venture partners. I am a big believer in gaining ground faster for my blog and business through JVs versus going solo.

Click on the gray and white icon, “Join me @ Entrepreneur Connect”, in the lower left side bar of this blog to see the advice that I have given other entrepreneurial seekers. A new window will open up showing you my profile at EC. Scroll down a little bit to “My Community Activity”. This is a list of the recent posts that I have participated in. Click on the headings to go to the discussion thread and then scroll down until you see my entries with “thesologuide” icon.

These entries will give you additional insight into the ideas that I dole out for solving problems. I always welcome feedback. Let me know if you think I’m on target. And let me know if there are topics that you would like discussed. I look forward to hearing back from you.

All The Best,

Doug Dolan
